About Our Customer:
The customer is an educational technology company based in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is the developer and publisher of a web-based learning management system and a massive open online course (MOOC) platform. Millions of students and teachers around the world use the customer’s products.

Project Team:
Joining our team means working with full-stack engineers with experience building web-scale services in a loosely-coupled but highly-integrated system. We work with such technologies as PHP, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, React and PostgreSQL on Linux, and our platform runs on AWS.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience using PHP (both 7.x and 8.x)
  • Knowledge of REST API and REST Design principles
  • Background in cloud-hosted, high-traffic applications
  • Preference for action, desire for ownership, and love for problem-solving
  • Demonstrated excellence in programming, debugging, architecture, and DevOps — the customer’s engineers design, build, and deploy their own code

Nice to have:
Experience with Docker and AWS

English level:
Intermediate+

Responsibilities:

  • Moving codebase elements from from PHP version 7.x to 8.x and implementing new robust solutions
  • Ensure products can operate in the cloud at the scale needed by clients
  • Apply software development best practices for development (e.g. SOLID, Design Patterns, TDD, BDD) and configuration management tasks
  • Constructively discuss, challenge, and negotiate the best solution to deliver value to the client
  • Work in an Agile software development environment with distributed teams using Scrum
